Learn about the amazing migration of Saw-whet Owls and how Indiana Audubon researches the annual fall migration through the Indiana Dunes. We'll explore the unique natural history, migration patterns, and population dynamics of this small and sometimes too cute owl, as well as how you can participate in and watch the owl banding on select nights at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center.
Savannah Bennett is a volunteer bird bander for Project Owlnet. She has volunteered at the Indiana Dunes and Yellowwood State Forest owl banding stations. Savannah has also volunteered for the Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) songbird banding program. Savannah helps coordinate youth and family-oriented programming for Indiana Audubon Society such as Youth and Family Days. She has a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from Indiana University Bloomington with a specialization in ecology education.
