Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is a little known jewel of Northern Illinois. Located near Elwood, Midewin is a breathtaking 19,000 acres of restored habitat managed by the U.S. Forest Service. This protected area contains a wide variety of habitat for wildlife including wet and dry prairie, forest, wetlands, creeks and ponds and numerous trails birders can explore.

This program will feature the diverse bird life of this wonderful place that Greg DuBois has experienced over the years.

Greg is Vice-President and Program Director of Will County Audubon. Since retiring from Exelon Nuclear in 2011, Greg has pursued his passion for birding and photography in many states. He has been a bird monitor and co-leader of birding tours at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie for five years. He is also the BCN bird monitor at O’Hara Woods near Romeoville. Greg and his wife, Cathy, spend Januarys in Florida where they bird extensively. Greg’s birding and photography interests continue to reach across the boundaries of the United States.
