On May 13, 2023, from 9:30 am to noon, the Village of Homewood is celebrating World Migratory Bird Day at the Izaak Walton Preserve, 1100 Ridge Road, Homewood, IL. Please come by and enjoy your pick of free activities. You are welcome to bring a picnic and explore the preserve grounds. Map of the preserve trails and activity areas

9:30 am – 10:15 am… Bugs, Plants and Birds, Judy Johnson, Thorn Creek Audubon Society & Homewood Green Thumb Saturday Program

10:30 am – 11:15 am… Migration Mysteries, John Elliott, Chicago Audubon Society

Ongoing… Audubon-guided Bird Walks; Bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number will be available to borrow. Spotting scopes will be set up at the lake.
Ongoing… Build a Birdhouse with Boy Scout Troop 342
Ongoing… Children's Programs with the Conservation Ecology Interns from the Homewood Science Center, including games and hands-on projects
Ongoing… Local Birds Photography Exhibit
This inaugural event is part of the Village of Homewood’s application to become certified as a Bird City Illinois by the Audubon Council of Illinois and is sponsored by the Homewood Public Works Tree Committee. Thorn Creek Audubon is delighted to be supporting the Committee’s work toward achieving this certification.
